Scrappy Stars

Good Monday Morning!  Hope everyone is thawing out.  There's very little snow left in Podunk.  The weatherman says we should see temperatures in the high 50's this week.  Whoohoo!  I loved the snow but it's time to soak up some sun while gardening.  There's nothing better than the smell of fresh spring air.  If they could bottle it, I'd buy it!

I'm still quilting my current small project.  I've made very little progress.  This thing has given me FITS.  Ripping and picking, pouting and cussing.  The problem?  Me not paying attention.  I would lay out one row at a time by the sewing machine.  Somehow I would get them turned the wrong direction after flipping right sides together.  Of course the first time noticed I did this was after an entire row had been piece and pressed.  Oh well it's part of the quilting process, there's gonna be those days when nothing goes right.  It's also good to work out of the comfort zone to improve quilting skills.  Maybe I should make another project using these triangles since this one got the better of me.  Nah...I'd rather make some Podunk Posy blocks, wouldn't you?!

  1. I do know that feeling of reverse sewing in more ways than one, even when I have it laid out nicely I some how turn it backwards when I get to the machine. But then I have times when everything magically happens as I planned!

  3. Pretty, pretty! Sometimes I think the quilting gremlins turn things on us when we are not looking. I am so ready for spring, too!

  10. Oh my gosh I feel your pain! You're probably pieceing the rows on the diagonal so it's harder to keep track. They look ab fab girl! LeeAnna at not afraid of color
and I'm doing my own ripping on my paper pieced blocks!

  11. Lea Anne, I think it's great regardless of the angst it's causing! I love the pieced pieces! Scrappy quilts are my favorites. I've had a few, though, that my head wasn't in the game, and it took twice as long as it should because of all the ripping out. I tend to piece with NO music, no tv, just silence, or I'm in the same boat as you. Not the best multi-tasker with concentrated sewing.

  12. Love your little quilt... the smaller and cuter they are though... the more effort that is involved :) Will be worth it in the end :) Kathi

  13. Oh yeah--it seems no matter how careful I am, something goes horribly wrong between the design wall and the sewing machine! I've found that making myself a set of block boards (ala Bee in my Bonnet) has helped a lot, but sometimes the boards don't work and sure enough, I will be doing some reverse sewing!

  14. These look yummy! Very springy and happy. Whenever I piece triangles like those, sooner or later I end up with a half circle because I sewed the wrong edges together. It's like they want to be put together wrong! It looks worth the trouble, though.

  17. Sigh, I hate it when my inattention causes me to be a ripper! Sigh....
