New FREE Project and DIY Half Square Triangle Trimming Tool

Hello Quilting Friends!  Today I'm super excited to share a sneak peek of my latest FREE project.

The Stars and Stripes Forever Pillow(above) will be released on YouTube and will have a FREE printable only available in the video description.  It will focus on making your own sturdy freezer paper applique templates to use in turned edge applique.  I also show you how to do Invisible Machine Applique that looks hand stitched when finished.   This super cute pillow project was designed to go with my Stars and Stripes Forever Quilt Pattern sold in my pattern shop.  The video should be ready within the next day or two, it all depends on my video editing skills as to how quickly I can get it ready to publish.

Did you see my latest video on YouTube?  I shared how I made a Locking HST Ruler with things we already have laying around in our sewing rooms and house.  It was surprising how well this worked.  I made it on the fly and wasn't really planning on sharing but my best quilting buddy said "You have to make a video for this!".

So I did!  Click the image below to go to the video on YouTube.

Life in Podunk isn't all about quilting.  Me and my girl Khaleesi still have our almost daily walks.  Rain keeps me inside and heat keeps her inside.

We average at least 3 days a week, sometimes more.  I like to get in 2.5 miles.  Khaleesi also enjoys the longer walks but with it being so hot she doesn't always make it much more than 1/2 mile.  Normally I'll stop at the 1/4 mile mark.  If she lays down this means she's ready to head back home.  If  stays standing and looks at me it means she's feeling like going a little farther.  So we continue on and stop every so often to see how she feels.

Yesterday she made it about 1/2 of a mile.  So I took her back home to let her cool off inside while I continued on with my walk.

I won't describe every picture below that I took on my walk yesterday.  They pretty much say it all.  I love COLOR and old things!

My word of the year Moo-ve.   I'm still finding ways to move this old body.  Daily walks and finding ways to stretch and move while doing daily chores.

  1. What a beautiful patriotic quilt, Lea Anne!

  2. Lovely photos, Lea Anne. And your pillow is looking absolutely charming. I'll check it out. I don't blame Khaleesi for wanting to pack it in after a short hike. The heat gets to me, too.
