Design Wall Monday

Once again I'm linking up with Judy over at Patchwork Times.  Hop on over for some inspiration from other bloggers.  So here's what happened.  I was wading through the vast internet, being inspired by so many pretty ideas...and before I know it this happened!  LOVE LOVE LOVE my idea if I do say so myself, please forgive my boasting, but isn't this just cute!
The only regret is that the red tips were an after thought.  Something just seemed to be missing till they were added.  It would have been much easier to make them part of the dresden blade before sewing the blades together, and less bulk.   Not sure how I'll set them, sashing? white background or color?  applique between blocks?   And what about the name?  So far it's been narrowed down to Cherry Blossom Marmalade.  Cherry for obvious reasons, Blossom because the dresden reminds me of a flower, and Marmalade because that's the line of fabric used for the blades.
Thanks for stopping by if your new to my blog, I love new visitors and comments!
Until next time "Quilt out of Your Comfort Zone!"

  2. Hi! I would applique onto white blocks, but the white with a small red print, more white than red. Then, I would add HSTs onto each corner of the background blocks so when they were sewn together, without sashing, you would have a marmalade print diamond in the corners. Solid white fabric would give toooo much empty space, so the small red print would help to fill in the spaces too.
This will be great, take care, Leslie

  10. Lea,
That is an inspired addition and definately makes the block. Maybe white for the background and a red gingham border.

  12. Your cherry blossom blocks are darling. I would applique them on a white background with a tiny print of some type - Something that doesn't distract from your cute plates. You do need to pat yourself on the back -- you deserve it.

  13. The difference between the regular dresdan and the cherry dresden is fantastic!!! (pun intended) They look really nice on the white background, as it makes that red just pop out!!! It would be fun to copy the block with quilting in the setting blocks. Red quilting thread would really be stunning. Have fun with this cute design.
