Morning quilty friends. I'm still plugging along on the Flippy corners quilt. A few more blocks were made over the long weekend. The adorable little 5.5" twinkling stars have been the highlight of my weekend. However I've barely made a dent in the basket of bonus HST's. But this seems like a good stopping place. So I started playing around with a few setting ideas for the blocks.
Using only 8 blocks is a bit of a design challenge. I came up 10 different layouts for the blocks. How about a peek at a few of the ideas? The design below really makes those twinkly stars shine. The background fabric would be linen left over from another project.
Oh but I'm a real sucker for the white background. Simple, and the stars still shine.
Maybe a table runner ....lots of room for quilting.
Decisions, Decisions....I like them all. Which one would you make?

What adorable star blocks! I like the setting with the white.. second one. I can see some of your gorgeous applique in the middle. I'm glad you are getting time to sew this weekend. Looking forward to seeing what you come up with using these cute blocks.
ReplyDeleteI like the setting with the linen bg.
ReplyDeleteI love the freshness of the gingham. And the way it is square when the stars are on point.
ReplyDeleteI like the middle one. If the top one had a white background then I'd like that one more. Now waiting to see what you put in the middle :)
ReplyDeleteI say make more!
ReplyDeleteThose star blocks are so pretty! I'm partial to the white background. Either will be beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI like the runner.
ReplyDeleteLove the table runner idea. Very summery.
ReplyDeleteI'm torn between the first setting and the table runner. These blocks are sure pretty and the linen looks great with the white.
ReplyDeleteI love the table runner idea, but with white background and if you had enough material to make one large star for the center...I would make that in a second!
ReplyDeleteOH OH, I noticed your stars! OH OH, I LOVE stars!!
ReplyDeleteI like the last two the best!
ReplyDeleteVery pretty stars. I'd probably go with the first layout, but I'd have to add something to the center.
ReplyDeleteI think I'd go with the first one - I'm a sucker for a block on point. If you are really taken with the white background maybe you could switch up the linen for white...
ReplyDeleteI really like your first one with on point stars.
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness I just love these fresh little stars they remind me of little watermelons, or some cool mint with some watermelon or strawberry jam. I love all of your ideas, these sure are precious....thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteMay I ask where did you get the green floral fabric that you used to make blocks.
Deleteplease let me know
DeleteIts a Pam Kitty print. I'm not sure what line of Pam Kitty but I can tell you I purchased it at the Fat Quarter Shop.
Deletethey all look good but I like the ones on point best
ReplyDeleteI love the table runner idea!
ReplyDeleteI like the one with the white background. The center calls for some lovely quilting.
ReplyDeleteI like the on point version or the table runner. You could add fancy quilting or even some applique in the center.
ReplyDeletethose picnic stars are so cute!
ReplyDeleteSuch cute star blocks! I like the second one or the table runner.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful sawtooth stars! I like either of your first two options, and I'd add applique in the center. But I'm sure whatever you decide will be lovely!
ReplyDeleteWell isn't that just adorable. Cute, cute.
ReplyDeleteSuch cute stars. I really like the table runner.
ReplyDeleteLOVE the colors of your stars. It's so summery. Can't wait to see how you decide to do the layout.
ReplyDeleteVery pretty blocks! I like the onpoint version best...but make some more and try again!
ReplyDeleteLove the pink plaid middles
ReplyDeleteLove the pink plaid middles
ReplyDeleteCute fabrics! I don't know how I stumbled onto your blog and some of your other friend's but you guys sure are doing some adorable quilting. So fun to see and enjoy.
ReplyDeleteLovely little stars! I like the first layout option the best.
ReplyDeleteOoh, I love the table runner idea - all that space for a fun quilting design! I know you'll come up with something fabulous. Those stars are adorable! Thanks for linking to MCM!
ReplyDeleteI like the linen look for the background and would probably go for option one....but then I'm not that great at quilting yet so if I was I ight go for the runner to show off the skills.
ReplyDeleteHard decisions...i really like them in a square...I guess it depends how ya want to use it. I love your gingham centers!!
ReplyDeleteI love your star blocks and I especially like the top one. I'd like to see a 9th block with the star in reverse fabrics. :)
ReplyDeleteI love the idea of that table runner. It would be fun with decorative quilting or some applique in the center. The fabric makes me think of summer time picnics. :) So bright and fresh!
ReplyDeleteThose are the sweetest little star blocks, Lea Anne. The first design with the blocks set on point is my favourite. Can't wait to see what you decide!
ReplyDeleteI would really like to make the table runner.
ReplyDeleteAs always, amazed by your productivity. I like the first one best. Hugs!
ReplyDeleteThese are adorable! What gingham did you use, it goes together with the pkm perfectly!
ReplyDeleteI have never made a quilt and I would like to try. Do you have a pattern for these squares?
