Charity Quilt #6 2023

All of the fabrics in this quilt(front and back) were purchased at Walmart years ago when they decided to get rid of their fabric departments.  At $2 a yard I couldn't pass up even the ugliest of fabrics.

Back in those days I was a single mom working 10 to 12 hours a day, 6 or 7 days a week.  The quilts I made were commissioned or gifts.  It would take about 2 to 4 months to make a quilt in my spare time.

During this time is when I started building my fabric stash with the hopes of the commissioned quilts being made from my stash.  But it never happened that way.   I also never made quilts for me.  Even the small wall hangings I made to decorate my home were gifted to others.   It was many years into my quilting journey before I made and kept a quilt for myself.

The journey has come full circle and once again every quilt  is being gifted.  Well, at least for the next few weeks.  I'm getting the itch to make a new Christmas quilt for my bed. Something simple, maybe a red and white quilt with lots of  white space for quilting.  And I'm hoping to make the Bonnie Hunter mystery quilt this fall.   Only time will tell, you all know me....the plan is always changing.

Until next time...

I hope you find time to stitch up something sweet!
