Nimble Thimbles Quilt Show and FREE PATTERN

Nimble Thimbles is a small quilt guild in Franklin, Indiana, my hometown.  This past weekend was their annual quilt show.  There were many vintage/antique quilts as well as new.

The first quilt I saw was one I knew and loved because I've been wanting to make it for years.  It's called Budding Beauty, it's a FREE pattern and can be found here.

Next was a vintage Grandmother's Flower Garden.

Look at these tiny hexies and hand quilting!

Another impressive vintage quilt with one inch finished squares.

Just look at all this scrappy goodness.

The Courthouse Steps quilt was folded and displayed on a quilt ladder.  I'm not sure just how big this quilt is but it doesn't matter because the width of the finished pieces is a quarter inch.  Impressive no matter how large the quilt.

The rest of the in this post are the new quilts that caught my eye.

Of course you can't go to a quilt show without buying something.  I'll share my small purchases later this week.

Until next time...

I hope you find time to stitch up something sweet!

  1. I LOVE all these quilts! I've downloaded the Budding Beauty pattern years ago, she's still on my list. I'm going to need to decide soon what my next applique project is going to be when Hearts & Wreaths is finished. Thanks for all the eye candy, what a wonderful start to my day!

  4. Ooh, I'm now looking forward to seeing your version of that Budding Beauty quilt someday! It looks like you enjoyed a wonderful quilt show. I'm hoping to visit the Asheville, NC quilt show this Friday (if all goes well with our dog's 8 week post-op X-rays on Thursday morning so we can leave him in the care of our sons while we're gone). I can't wait!

  5. I have that first one hanging in my closet for several years now just waiting to be quilted. I really need to take care of that! And the one with 1 in. squares made my eyes cross--never could do that but very cool. And lots of beauties in the show.
