~ Juggling Projects ~ 50% OFF SALE ~

How many projects can a quilter juggle at one time?  There's no definitive answer.  Typically I don't like to juggle projects but every now and again it becomes a necessity.   The project first in the toss is the Flower Sugar Rose Kiss fabrics.  This one is long overdue.  She's almost complete and the pattern should be ready to publish within the next week or two.  The plan was to keep the pattern and quilting quick and easy but once I got this cutie on the quilt frame my quilting instinct had different plans.  It's not quite quilted to death but it pretty close.  Standing at the frame for long periods of time is hard on my back and legs so this is where the project juggle begins.

Earlier in this month I shared my pull for the new Bonnie Hunter Mystery quilt. Bonnie's color pallete this year is pretty close to my pallete with the exception of one fabric.  So the pull was as easy as opening my favorite fabric cabinet.

Then while reading some of my favorite quilt blogs this week I stumble upon another mystery quilt that also sounds fun.  The Happy Christmas Sew Along by Primrose Cottage is a small and quick mystery quilt.  It will only take about 2 weeks for all the clues to be released.  Anyway, I started pulling fabrics.  These sat on my cutting table for a few days until me, myself and I start having a discussion about the pile of fabrics.  They(me, myself and I) start tossing out ideas for another quilt.  As usual these three can't get along.  Each has a different design idea and as usual Lea Anne becomes the tie breaking vote.

Lea Anne likes color and scrappy......more fabric pulling.  The fabrics below may be a little overkill but at least I know there will be enough fabric to make the mystery and my new quilt design.

Pulling fabric and doing a little quilty math for the new quilt gave me just the break I needed from the frame quilting.  It was time to get back to the frame. While quilting the trio in my brain continued to toss out ideas for quilts.  When my back screamed for mercy it was time to pull some MORE FABRIC.  This little project should be fairly easy.  A few years ago I entered a giveaway and won the Lori Holt Sew Simple shapes and notions.  I'll be using the gingerbread man template but the rest of the quilt will be my design.   My hopes is to have the quilt finished by Christmas so the grand kids can use it when they visit.  Eventually the pattern will be put on my blog for free.  So if you have these templates tucked away somewhere you might want to start digging for them now.

Yes the Christmas season is in full swing here in Podunk.  Plans are being made, menu's written, and the official shopping crunch has begun.  This sweet little Christmas ornament was delivered this week from a fellow quilter that would like to stay anonymous.  How darling is this little sewing machine made by Jennifer Jangles? (Click here for Jennifer's ceramic store) This will be in my studio year around.  It's just too cute to store away for most of the year.  Thank you so much Jennifer and Miss Anonymous!

This weekend in my Etsy shop I have a special deal for you!  50% OFF Snow on the Farm PDF pattern. <---click there  No codes needed.  Sale ends November 26, 2019 at midnight.

The Joy pillow below is a free pattern that can be found here on my blog.

~ Happy Christmas Sew Along by Primrose Cottage ~

I just had to pop in and share a quick quilt along that is starting tomorrow.   Nettie and Lindsey over at Primrose Cottage Quilts always make the cutest quilts.  This is a fast paced quilt along, just how I like them.  Hop over to their blog, sign up for the emails so you don't miss the mystery quilt clues as the come out over the next few days.  Click here or the image below.

To be honest I was pulling fabric or another quilt when the email reminder for this quilt along came in to my mailbox.  Since I pulled WAAAY too much fabric for the other project I'll just use the same fabrics for both quilts.  I may need to pull a few darker greens as it progresses.

Hope to see ya'll joining in the fun!  #HappyChristmasSewAlong

~ SALE ~ Sneak Peek ~ WINNERS! ~

It's been a long time since I shared a finished quilt. There's been a lot going on in the Studio but not much that I can share right now.  Here's a sneak peek at my current project using a Lecien Flower Sugar Fat Quarter bundle from Cottage Couture Fabric shop.

This bundle makes my little ole heart go pitter-pat. It has everything I love gingham, dots, florals and scallops.

The florals remind so much of Pam Kitty fabric....sigh...GORGEOUS!

Hopefully there will be enough leftover from the fat quarters to make a scrappy binding.  If not I'll make a pillow from the scraps and use the background fabric for the binding.

Now onto the Winners of the two giveaways I had here the blog. The first giveaway was for the Happy Little Things BOM designed by Jacquelynne Steves.  If you haven't joined in the BOM and would like to join click here to sign up, its FREE!

The winner on my blog for November was chosen at random and has been contacted.
Congratulations Sandra!

The next giveaway was from Haver Island Design Co.   I won a huge giveaway about a month ago from them.  So I thought it would be fun to share my winnings with one of you.  I did keep a couple of things, but as you can see below it was still a large giveaway.  The winner was chosen randomly.
Congratulations Tonni!
Tonni please send me an email with your full name and home mailing address.

One more thing before ending this post.   I"m having a huge sale in my pattern shop.  This weeks patterns on sale are my Christmas Memories Truck patterns.  50% off the PDF(instant download) patterns.   Hurry! Sale is only good for 3 days

~ Bonnie Hunter 2019 Mystery ~ Frolic ~

Autumn is the best time of year.  I love the cooler temperatures, the warm colors in nature and the Bonnie Hunter Mystery Quilt.  This year the mystery quilt is called Frolic.  The clues for the quilt are FREE while the quilt along is in progress. So be sure to save the free PDF's to your computer each week.  Yes! each week.  That's why I like this mystery quilt.  It moves along at a much faster pace than most.  Once a month quilt alongs are a quilt killer in my world.  I lose interest.

Bonnie's quilt along (in my opinion) has the largest following of quilters.  Have you seen her Facebook Group of quilters?  If not you really need to join, if nothing else just so you can look at beautiful quilts everyday of the year. You can join the Quiltville Open Studio here.  Word of warning, you will need to answer a few questions to get in the group.  If you don't know the answer just Google the question.

From now until around February the group is almost all about the mystery quilt.  No two quilts are the same.  Bonnie is the master of teaching quilters to quilt from their scraps.  Of course not everyone has a huge stash of scraps so it's totally fine to purchase fat quarters or yardage.  Many of Bonnie's followers are new quilters wanting to learn new techniques.  The mystery quilt is just as beautiful in the 4 or 5 colors done in yardage.

I've completed 2 Bonnie Mystery Quilts.  The first one I made was En Provence. You can purchase the pattern here.  The quilt below is Bonnie's Hunters quilt.

This one is mine and is my favorite.  I changed the colors to my happy and brights.

So many of my Lakehouse DryGoods prints.

Then last years mystery called Good Fortune.  Bonnie's quilt below.  The pattern can be purchased here.

But you know me, I can't make a quilt as written.  My instinct is to make it my own even if that is only color change.  Mr. Podunk loves a new quilt every so often.  This is his colors that he calls "more manly".

Here's a quick run down of how the mystery quilt happens every year.

1.  End of October Bonnie shares the colors and the fabric requirements.  This years intro post can be found here.
2.  Black Friday is the first cutting an piecing clue.
3.  New clue every week until late December or early January.

That's it! Short and sweet and to the point.  Of course there's rules and suggestions but she has laid all that out in the link above in #1.

Now it's time to do some fabric pulling and petting. My oldest and least used scraps are in these bins.  Honestly I don't think I've looked in these since the last Bonnie mystery.  I have added a few scraps to them over the year.  A quick look in these and YUK.

Let's change things up a bit and look through my favorite fabric cabinet.

Here's my color plan.  It's really close to Bonnie's.  You'll need to hop over to her blog to see her plan.

The top shelf takes care of 3 colors.

The blues are already together as well!  This has been the easiest mystery fabric pull to date.

And should I need more.  Well there's plenty of fun prints hiding out in these bundles.  That's that, all done.  It didn't require much work but I think I still deserve a piece of chocolate for mental effort.
