Testing a new thread~ MicroQuilter

Good Monday Morning quilting friends!  Are you enjoying the beautiful spring weather?  I know here in Podunk spring is in full swing and we're very busy in our gardens.  Taking care of the veggie gardens and the flower gardens is pretty much a full time job.  It leaves little time for sewing but I'm squeezing in a few minutes here and there.  A couple of weeks ago I order the new Superior Threads 100 wt MicroQuilter thread.   I couldn't wait to try it out, so I dug through my quilt tops to find the perfect quilt for my new thread.  This thread is fabulous,  beautiful backtracking!  Just look at the bump back feather tops, you can't see any thread build up.

That red border is also quilted with the white thread, it barely shows.  Melts in like butter.

No need to change thread color so I'll be quilting the entire quilt with the white.

The quilt is one that I made while taking care of momma last year.

These nine patches originally were going to be a totally different quilt.  You can see it here.

Then I had an epiphany and made the quilt below using some of the nine patches.  That's when the idea for the rest of leftovers came to be.  You can see it here.

  1. Glad to know how the quilting went with the MicroQuilter. I'd seen it and thought, "Not another thread. I can get along with what I have." Now, I've decided after your review that I will give it a try. Thanks.

  2. Im glad you posted this! I use Glide thread but I want to try this 100wt thread. Also, not sure if I told you this but I LOVE the red white and blue quilt that has the applique flowers on point. I would love to make it. You used the left over 9 patches...I think. I love it!!

  4. Your quilt with the pomegranates and pieced blocks there is Stunning, Lea Anne! So classic yet still fresh.

You certainly got a beautiful result with the new Superior thread. I am so obsessed with cotton, though -- have you ever had a good result with a cotton thread?

  7. I'm so glad you posted this Lea Anne. I got to out MicroQuilter last week in the thread class I took and I can't wait for my order to arrive. The thread looks good on your quilt, which is so pretty! Your quilting is so stunning - I can only hope to do feathers as nice as yours one day. :) Did you order other colors?

  10. Thanks for sharing your enthusiasm for this thread! I used to use a poly filament thread way back when it first came out - decades ago - and am so happy to hear that there is a new one you recommend! I am assuming that it does not break easily while you are quilting with it? Poly thread seems great for quilting with many colors and blending right in. Again, thanks for mentioning this new thread. I cannot wait to try it!
