~ Is it Vintage? ~

About 3 or 4 weeks ago I was contacted by Janice from the Color Creating and Quilting blog.  She was purging her stash when she found a piece that reminded her of me.  She kindly offered to send it to me.   How could I resist?!  It is so cute.  This piece is folded for picture taking.  It's about 18" wide by 6' long.  I'm wondering if it was a  table cloth at one time.  I've seen old tablecloths with what looks to be a selvage edge but it was the finished edge.  When I folded this for the picture it occurred to me that this would be super adorable made into a tea towels or an apron.

Janice knows me well, red gingham and cherries....it doesn't get any better or sweeter.  I could also see this made into a window valance.  So many creative ideas are flowing.

For now I'm going to leave it as is because I can't bare to cut the little darling.  She's been folded to look like a tea towel and added to the decor on top of the fabric cabinet in the Studio.

I just had to share Janice's note paper.  It says it all!  This too is so me!  Love it! Thanks Janice for making my day, my week, my month.  I'm not sure if you knew it, April(today the 1st) is my birthday month, so your cherry gift was the perfect birthday surprise.

Father time

45 years ago today I fooled them all and came into this world 3 weeks early!  The great thing about having an April Fools day Birthday is it's hard for your hubby to forget!  Rarely does anyone forget my Birthday it's payback for all the bad jokes I've endured over the years.
Mom and dad sent this cute card.  By the language on it I'd say dad picked out this one.  He's a real prankster all year long.

My two boys whipped up a quick party.
My boys are crafty like me, and tend to give homemade gifts just like when they were little.  This year was no different.  Trever, my youngest, made me this lovely ring.
Can you believe he wrapped the wire with a smaller wire, I thought it was a spring.  I love it, so unique.  I found out today that its not one that I can wear in the studio it was getting caught on everything.
We all share a love for music, all music.  Even though I tend to listen to country and older rock also enjoy the newer music.
So my oldest son will keep me up to date with new bands.  He burned a CD for me as a gift.  It's a new group called Honey Honey.  I thanked him stuck it in my purse and didn't open it until last night.  Great band with a bluegrass sound.
The inside of the CD made me cry.  Normally I don't like to talk about negative things here in blogland.  But for this to make sense to you I'll give you a quick trip into my past.  My ex had a substance abuse problem, life was hard for 13 years.  My kids endured a lot of things that kids shouldn't.  I tried as hard as I could to make things normal.  Until the last 2 years of my marriage I had a nervous breakdown and started down the road of substance abuse also.  When the marriage was over, I struggled for a couple of years recovering.  Working in a factory 10-12 hrs a day, 6-7 days a week. No child support.
This made all those struggles worth it.

Another day older...

....and deeper in debt...For all you older followers I'm sure you know that tune from way back.  I'm not that old, 44, as of yesterday.  But my Dad made sure that we were cultured in all music.   Anyway mom and I spent the first part of my b-day at the hospital, she had a 15 minute test that needed to be done.  After 2 hours for a 15 minute test we ate lunch.  She wanted to eat somewhere nice but I was having issues with  my sugar level due to the fact that we skipped breakfast because the test was only supposed to be 15 minutes.  I needed food fast, so I picked the closest place...White Castle...Not much of a birthday dinner but its better than passing out while driving to a nice restaurant.  After eating our belly bombs we did some thrift store shopping, momma is the queen of thrift stores.  Rarely will she buy new clothing, but will pay over $100 for the right shoe?  Back to my find of the day.  I found these lovelies. Four ladies blouses that will be deboned the Bonnie Hunter way and made into scraps for quilting.  My cost(moms cost because she was buying) about $6.  The milk glass vase was a thrift find last week for $2.
My dad loves to give funny b-day cards.  He's a great gift giver also.  His memory is amazing so he picks up on little things that you say throughout the year to give the best gifts and cards.  We had a conversation about how I feed the neighbors cows apples, they come running when they hear my 4 wheeler coming down the road.  So my dad found this great card.
Until next time "Quilt out of your Comfort Zone!"

Party Time!

3 wives, 3 bouts of cancer, 2 near death accidents and 8 kids later he still drives!
Below is my gramps and my mom.  I asked him what was the most exciting invention he witnessed in the last 90 years and he says "well really nothing stands out".  Gramps is just an ole country boy that took life as it came.  Besides all those kids he also had pigs, chickens, cows, goats, horses and a tomato farm.  Retired from truck driving in the 80's, then worked for the city, retired from that and began working for a horse farm until about 12 years ago.  He played and worked with Bill Monroe(for those of you who don't know Bill Monroe he's a famous Bluegrass musician)

The youngest at the party, my second cousins.  What hams!

Below from left to right, my dad, my sweetie, and the guy who stole my singing solo in middle school! Its a sore spot we won't go into..LOL  The lady looking deep in thought is my aunt Lou who organized the party.  Thanks Aunt Lou for all your hard work!
