Home is where the heart is

Just wanted to pop in and thank you all for your prayers and wishes.    My dad is on the mend and doing well.   Dr. Barksdale is amazed at dad progress, calling him "The Poster Child for Heart Bypass Surgery".  Of course dad let everyone know  it was because he had quilters all over the world praying for him.  He's still got a long way to go before returning to normal activity but I think he might set a new record there also.
For those of you that read my blog on a regular basis you know that my brother passed 8 yrs ago leaving me an only child.  The stress of being the only one can get the best of me at times.  Thankfully there's been an abundance of support from my extended family.  I don't know if I could ever thank or repay them for all they're hard work in the last week.   Even with all the help I'm wiped out emotionally and physically so today I've returned home for a much needed break.  There's plenty of weeding to help me de-stress before returning tomorrow.  Hopefully I can squeeze in a little sewing also.

Thanks again, and hope to see you soon with some quilty updates!

  3. So pleased to read your Dad is recovering so well. Nice you can get home to look after you. Think of this as a hug from me and hope you do get some stitching time.

  9. I'm so happy to hear of your dad's successful surgery and recovery. My father went through the same thing, so I know the toll it can take on the family. I'm glad you're taking a break for yourself. Being the only one to do the "heavy lifting" of the care is bound to be hard on you. I'm glad to see you have kept your sense of humor. Take care.

  10. So glad to hear that your Dad is doing well after surgery. Wishing him a speedy recovery. Hope you did get a chance to stitch a little, that's the best stress relief there is.

  11. We went through that with my father-in-law last year. Or was it the year before? Anyway, quite traumatic and amazing, isn't it?! I am so glad he is doing so well!!

I had no idea you lost your brother. I lost my sister 6 years ago and y mom 9 years ago. My only brother wouldn't spit on my if I were on fire, so I very much feel like an only child and its just my dad and me. Anyway, probably more than you wanted to know. =)
