Not so quilty lately

Its been so busy around here the last couple of weeks so I apologize for my absence.  Unfortunatly seems its going to be that way for awhile and I'll be posting less often.  You know how it's, life, family, and issues.  Not complaining, I love my family.  Anyway...Duing all the hustle and bustle I've managed to get something done.  The picture is a little less than perfect, but I just didn't have time to fix it, and I don't have access to my computer with the program to do so.  You can find the pattern here if your interested  http://www.etsy.com/listing/91922197/miss-kelly .  Erin is one of my favorite bloggers and pattern designers.  Until next time.....Quilt out of your comfort zone!

...picked a peck of pickled peppers..

Mother nature demanded that I not sew all after noon.  My pepper plants are finally putting out crop!  Yeah!  I know your thinking who pickles peppers?  We do!  I love peppers of any kind, the hotter the better.  Although these sweet bananas aren't real hot, the jalapenos are plenty hot enough for me.  We've also Cayenne peppers that we dry and crush to make a shake.

Susie homemaker has been running around like crazy...she also made this Hard Crusted Italian Bread yesterday!....YUMMMMY!  And she left a little tip for me to share about hot peppers.  When you work with hot peppers more often than not it sets you hands on fire no matter if you wear gloves or not.   To stop the burn don't grab the milk, grab the Minty mouth wash and rinse your hands in that.  Works if your mouth is on fire also.  It doesn't take much.  About a Tablespoon for the hands.  It has to be MINT of any kind.  How Cool is that!  I was walking around here with fire shooting out my fingers for about 3 hours and one little dab of this stuff was instant relief!

Cute little bird bath....

This has been an unusually hot and dry summer until the last month.  Being that its been so hot I told my dear sweet man that I was thinking we should get a bird bath for the poor little birdies.  You know I was envisioning something maybe cement, painted white, or copper that had turned green with a cute little garden around the bath...Oh and wouldn't a  little bench cute,  miniature weeping cherry tree.  He being the handyman that he is said that he could make one..OOH?  No its more like UGGG...Well you gotta give him credit for originality...A Ford Hubcap!

Looking out my backdoor you can see my little birdie hide-away that I didn't quite envision...He made the Sheppard's hook, the fire pit, the swing, and of course the chopping block/chair, that shadow on the ground is also a pergola that he built, and there's chairs and a table to match the swing, so its not all Podunkian...is that a word?  I love him anyway.

It was a good day for a ride around the country block(for you city folks thats about 4 mile square in corn country)

Hope you enjoy the view

BIG THANK YOU!

What a week!  Wendy Sheppard over at IvorySprings was kind of enough to show one of my quilts on her blog on Labor Day. I had sent her a picture of the quilt with her bird feather motif design reworked and she aked for my permission to post it on her site!   Thank you to Wendy and all the visitors to my blog and new followers.  Big ole country huggins sent out to ya'll.  What fun it was to have such a response.  I never thought that one of my quilts could cause such a stir.  I can't say enough about her site, so many tutorials and helpful advice, quilting patterns, and ...Just go check it out the pictures are enough to get you hooked!  Hop on over and take a look here.

Between all the excitement I managed to get another quilt on ...

...started another one of my moms WIP'S.  This frame technique is so cute and easy, adds a 3 demensional look to the block.  When I washed this block it bled so no finsished pictures yet it's soaking in a time out bath!

...And then I had to learn to program my sewing machine to do this simple stitch.  Yep, just a blanket stitch but its tiny.  1.6 to be exact, and my machine only goes to 2.0.  Luckily  I've the option to design my own stitches, unluckily I'm techy challenged.  But  finally after a few hours of trial and error, a pair of reading glasses, and a worn out sewing machine manual, plus more than a few "FIDDLESTICKS!"  Here's she is...

Until next .....QUILT OUT OF YOUR COMFORT ZONE!
