Hello Happy Quilters! It's been awhile since my last blog post. I've posted a couple times on other social media but for the most part I'm still in a "Funk". Thank you so much to those of you who have reached out to me this week via e-mails. Not much has changed. The health issues are still a concern. To keep the whining to a minimal I'll just say that Benadryl has become part of my daily routine to keep the histamine rash at bay. The natural remedies haven't worked and for now I refuse prescription medicine. With a little relief from the rash, getting back into the studio for a few minutes here and there has been possible. The Disappearing 9-patch QAL hosted by Julie at The Crafty Quilter blog was supposed to be the kick in the pants to restart my MOJO. Sigh....what can a gal do but go with the flow, even when the flow is more like a trickle. The nine patches have been sliced and diced and hung on the design wall.
These florals mixed with the large scale gingham in the Elm Park by Laura Ashley make my little ole heart melt. Pairing the Laura Ashley with Lakehouse Drygoods green print added a subtle consistency to the quilt with overwhelming the design.
Getting row one together wasn't easy. I literally had to dust the cobwebs from my sewing machine. The rest of the studio webs can wait. Yes there's webs everywhere when the sunlight shines into the studio. I could leave the webs for a few more months and have natural Halloween decor!....HAHA!
Hopefully I can get the rest of the quilt together before they become covered with more webs. Wish me luck! I need all I can get. Love you all! Thanks again for your quilty vibes and cheering me on during this funky time. I hope to be back to normal or what I consider to be normal soon.

praying for you baby
ReplyDeleteHope that pesky rash goes away soon!
ReplyDeleteAny chance you are allergic to Khaleesi? I grew up with dogs in the house and in my 40's suddenly became allergic to animal hair. My son has a German Shepherd, of which I've been told is one of the worse dogs for people with allergies. I get hives like you had on your arm any time I don't take a Claritin or Benadryl before visiting.
ReplyDeleteI love the colors in your disappearing nine patch. Such an easy quilt that looks so difficult. Thanks for sharing.
I love reading your blog but I'm not good at commenting (usually most people have said what I would say) but I'm sorry you are still suffering with your allergy problem. It's nice to see you've squeezed in a little sewing time and your blocks look very pretty. Wishing you well and back to fitness soon.
ReplyDeleteHi Lea Anne! I am so sorry to hear you are suffering. Hives can be extremely itchy and persistent, and I often suffer with them. Someone else mentioned an allergy to Khaleesi, which is possible but it could be so many things. {{Hugs}} a bunch for you while you get this sorted out. I've never made a D9P but seeing your version, which is lovely, is very inspiring. ~smile~ Roseanne
ReplyDeleteMy system was finally overwhelmed when we got new windows... the caulk. It's miserable and worse at night when you're trying to sleep. The only answer for me was acupuncture. Your fabric choices make your quilts so fresh and pretty. scritches to khaleesi
ReplyDeleteHope you feel better! I suffered with dermatitis for a long time and tried multiple things. What did relieve it for me was Young Living Essential Oils Animal Scents ointment. It comes in a large container and was enough for me to share with two of my friends suffering from skin issues as well.
ReplyDeleteHang in there! I am glad to see you are sewing again.
ReplyDeleteI've missed you! You are the first blog I go to on bloglovin'. Hang in there, hope you feel better soon.

I am not sure what your symptoms are but I have been battling a type of dermatitis for a year and a half. 3 different Dermatologists and a bag full of prescription oitments and creams and steroids equalling a out of pocket expense of 1000.00. went to my GP and she asked if anyone suggested a vitamin D blood test. No, not anyone, she was shocked and ordered one. Omg, that was it!!! Your levels of vitamin D should be between 30 -100. Mine was 17. She prescribed 50,000 units two times a week. Then another test in September to see if my levels are up. I am not kidding when I say the rash on my face is almost gone. It has helped with my depression too. This test is not routinely done, you have to ask for it. If you live in northern states it is quit normal not to have enough vitamin D. I am 61 years old and have never heard of this. Maybe you will read this and maybe I have helped you? My mission now is tell everyone I know about this deficiency.
ReplyDeleteYes I've tried the excessive amounts of vit. D with no results so far. did you know if you take that much vit. D you should be taking vit. k2 with it? If you don't it will cause calcium deposits in your heart(clogged arteries).
DeleteThis is my first visit to your site and I am WOWED. There is so much good information. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my little spot in Podunk! Looking forward to a new friend on the blog.
DeleteI have a grand German shepherd. Her name is Lizzie and she is very protective of my grandkids. I chase the kids and Lizzie is right behind making sure grandma does not hurt them!
ReplyDeleteI really love your red and white. I am going to have to try it. It really looks awesome
