~ Update On Me and the Easy Quilt ~

Hello Happy Quilters!  It's been awhile since my last blog post.  I've posted a couple times on other social media but for the most part I'm still in a "Funk".  Thank you so much to those of you who have reached out to me this week via e-mails. Not much has changed.  The health issues are still a concern.  To keep the whining to a minimal I'll just say that Benadryl has become part of my daily routine to keep the histamine rash at bay.  The natural remedies haven't worked and for now I refuse prescription medicine.  With a little relief from the rash, getting back into the studio for a few minutes here and there has been possible.  The Disappearing 9-patch QAL hosted by Julie at The Crafty Quilter blog was supposed to be the kick in the pants to restart my MOJO.  Sigh....what can a gal do but go with the flow, even when the flow is more like a trickle.  The nine patches have been sliced and diced and hung on the design wall.

These florals mixed with the large scale gingham in the Elm Park by Laura Ashley make my little ole heart melt.  Pairing the Laura Ashley with Lakehouse Drygoods green print added a subtle consistency to the quilt with overwhelming the design.

Getting row one together wasn't easy.  I literally had to dust the cobwebs from my sewing machine.  The rest of the studio webs can wait.  Yes there's webs everywhere when the sunlight shines into the studio.   I could leave the webs for a few more months and have natural Halloween decor!....HAHA!  

Hopefully I can get the rest of the quilt together before they become covered with more webs.  Wish me luck!  I need all I can get.  Love you all!  Thanks again for your quilty vibes and cheering me on during this funky time.  I hope to be back to normal or what I consider to be normal soon.

~ Shout out to Em's Scrap Bag ~

Just like most of you everyday I sit down at my computer and read a few blog post.  I have to admit I don't read as many as I used to for a couple of reasons.  Number 1 reason:  Lack of blogs.  Bloggers are leaving the blogging scene and using the quick and easy way of  communicating on social media. Instagram seems to be the hottest thing going these days.    Number 2 reason:  TIME...or the lack there of.   That being said....Time is wasting so lets get right to the point of this blog post.  

Em's Scrapbag, have you heard of this blogger?  Well if not let me tell you, Em is an amazing scrap quilter and designer.  Her blog is always full of color and inspiration.  Again I'll admit I don't always read her posts but I try fit in as many as I can when I get the time.  Anyway.....Somehow I totally missed out on her new quilt along this year.....let me rephrase that...her FREE quilt along.  The photo below is what caught my eye as I scrolled through Blogger Reader.  Aren't these little houses just darling?

As I read through the blog post I realized this was a quilt along.  How did I miss that?  When did it start?  Is there an introduction page?  After a few clicks on her blog I found the answers to all my questions.  Click here for the Page with all the links each part of the QAL.  The first post about the QAL was in January, then every month since.  Boy do I feel like a doof.  Somehow I've overlooked every post since January.  We'll blame it on the dog!   The picture below shows the QAL quilt minus the center....you have got to see the scrappy center.  The center is so me.  I'd love to jump right in my pile-o-scraps and start stitching.

As I mentioned early Em is also a quilt pattern designer.  Almost all of her patterns use scraps.  You can find her pattern shop here.  Don't forget to check out her homemade soaps.....I LOVE LOVE LOVE her soaps.  I've been using them for over a year now.  It's the only bars of soap I use.  Let me say I am in no way affiliated with Em other than I'm one happy customer and I love her soap.  I do not and will  not receive anything for this shout out to Em's shop.

Oh my goodness, oh my stars!

I've been wanting to do an online quilt a long and boy did I pick a doosey.  I'm lovin it, but many these little blocks are quite a chore. Not sure how many we will be making in all but so far I've made 10 of these 4 1/2" blocks.  You can find the quilt a long here OH MY STARS , I can't wait to see this quilt finished.

 

This is one of my favorite fabric lines, Dots and Daisies!  Wouldn't you just love to go running through a field of daisies?!  One of my happy places is a field of daisies, butterflies....just heaven to me.
