Quilty Fun Sew Along Block One

Due to the powers that be not wanting me to quilt yesterday, I made these instead.  Block one of the Quilty Fun Sew Along.

 It only took 6 hours!  Not because they were hard to make. Going with the flow yesterday was all I could do.  It was like bobbing for apples on a white water rafting trip.  Honestly at the time I didn't realize how long or how much I bounced around from the studio, phone, and garage.  Shew!  So glad to get passed the riffles and back to calmer waters.  

 Here's the tools you should never see in a quilting studio.  My "Dolly" wasn't feeling well yesterday.  I tried my best to fix her without any assistance but it was out of my control.  After splicing in a different "on" button and new wire I had to call in the professionals.  My husband and the Manufacturer.  The manufacturer is sending a new part, and hubby brought home a temporary button until the new part arrives later in the week.  

 I bet you think these are hubby's tools don't you?  Nope, all mine.  I've my own stand up tool box full of tools.  Years of living on my own, I learned to fix and do a lot of things for myself.  The only reason I went to the garage was to look for a new "on" button and to find my wire strippers, which were later found behind the seat in my truck.

DWM and a bigger peek

Top of the morning quilty friends!  It was a beautiful weekend here in Podunk.  Try as I might I just couldn't stay in all day and quilt.  There's much to do in order to prepare for the winter.  After doing some garden maintenance it was back to the empty design wall.  So I grabbed the one on top of the UFO pile to fill the void.  This one could have been done weeks ago, and should have.  Luckily, Connie's  in no big hurry to have it done.  Now to dig through her husbands shirts and decide how to work them all into the quilt.  I've a rough idea of what I'd like to do.  You can read more about it here and here.  And if you'd like to see more Design walls hop on over to Judy's to see what's being stitched up by quilters around the globe.

My quilt frame faces my design wall so it will give something to look at occasionally and ponder as I finish quilting up Cherry Blossom Marmalade.  Can't show you the whole thing yet, I want the changes to the pattern to be a surprise!

So here's a picture I took from the front porch of vultures doing some type of happy dance.  What you can't see is the road kill just to the right of these ugly birds. Didn't think you would be interested in seeing that!  These birds would sway from side to side in unison, dancing, and then more of their friends would land and join the dance.  While trying to get a better picture I scared them away, darnit, I really was enjoying the performance.  Just as well, I needed to get back to work.

Flimsy Friday

How about a sneak peek?  Just a little.  There was a quilt already on the frame that had to be taken off unfinished in order to do this one.   What can I say other than I'm a procrastinator.  And really just wanted to keep the Quilty Mojo going on this cutie.   The color issue from earlier in the week is fixed and she's well on her way to being done.  The plan was to go simple and be finished by today but....Whats a quilt without a few feathers?   And when you don't quilt for awhile and your over 40 yrs old the previously dormant muscles rebel.  

Wanna see just how much I procrastinate.  

 Here's all my flimsy's in waiting.  Eleven flimsy and 2 partially quilted quilts not shown.  One of the partials isn't my fault(the blame game, procrastinators favorite tool) I ran out of thread and my local shop no longer carries it, and I can't find it online.  We won't even talk about the UFO's.
