Prepping for more scrappy goodness

In between quilting and the ho-hum chores of daily life I've been cutting scraps for the next easy scrap quilt.  The Podunk Posy I designed a few days ago will be the hardest part, and she's not hard at all!  Just to prove it to everyone, I'll be posting a tutorial for my Podunk Posy next week.  And there's more....I'll also post tutorials for the rest of the quilt as I make it, sorry no PDF pattern this time.  The quilt is so simple I think most of you could make it without instructions.  Keeping things simple has been the theme so far this year, so might as well just keep on rolling with it.  I came up with an idea but couldn't decide on the corners of the quilt.   So why not just share all three patterns!

PLAN 1
with baskets in the corners.  The baskets are from a previous tutorial that can be found here.

PLAN 2
Butterfly corners, this block has a smaller version of the quilt block in my Flit and Flutter quilt.  I'll be sharing the pattern for this block as well.

PLAN 3
checker board corners, this was my original idea for this quilt, but I can't have just one plan now can I?!

The finished size of the quilt is 72 x 72 and has over 300 2.5" squares.

So which Plan is your favorite?

  4. I like the butterfly option. So cute! I think the way they are angled makes your eye travel around the quilt.

  5. At first I thought the baskets but then saw the checkerboard - that's my favorite. I like the way it ties in to the center. Such a cute quilt!

  7. I like the checkerboard the best. It's also the easiest for me. Beautiful spring colors. It's really cold here, but warmer weather is promised for the weekend.

  13. Butterflies definitely! I love the sweetness and summer feeling of this design!

  14. Definitely the butterflies. I particularly like the scale of them and that they are angled out toward the corners. I would like the baskets also if they were angled, with the bottoms toward the quilt center and the handles toward the outer corners.

  16. I love your tulips. I love the baskets but it looks like the butterflies are winning.

  17. I like all of them! Why not mix the butterflies and baskets? Two corners butterflies, two corners baskets. Problem solved! Looks like it's going to be lovely any way you choose.

  20. So I am thinking Baskets in 2 corners and butterfly in the 2 cross corners unless you come up with plan 4 and then there can be a different block in each corner?
Seeing these this morning just made me grin!

  27. I love the butterflies! This looks like such a fun quilt--and the flowers aren't that complicated but so cute. You are absolutely right, anyone can do it.

And I love your motto of keeping this simple this year--why complicate things when you can be simple and no fuss, right?

  30. I like the baskets best, though it's cool that you have different options. It's going to be very pretty.

  31. I like the butterflies. They give a little more "blank" space in the corners that I think works well since the quilt is fairly busy.

  33. I really like option number one, the baskets. Any one of the three would look really nice. Good luck on choosing just one option!

  34. I'd have to say I like the baskets the best. I don't know if they are shown to scale, but I like the way they anchor the quilt and fill the corners. Having said that, I think any one of the designs would be great.

  35. Why limit yourself - make all 3 quilts - I love them all - I love the baskets, but I also love the butterflies and I love the checkerboards - either I am easy to please or I just love them all. I have a gazillion 2.5" squares so this would be perfect for my squares. Thank you for the ideas and tutorial.

  36. I like them all so I'm no help. Maybe the butterfly though. I need to make this!

  39. I find your quilts to be so fun. I like them all but I would do the corners - baskets! You have such a flare for color and simple design that tugs at my heart. I love seeing what you do and am inspired. Thanks!
