Purple Passion

Not much quilty progress over the weekend.  It would be wonderful to tell you it was because life was so exciting that I just didn't have time.... but really it's because I don't like the color purple.  The pinwheels are leftover mistakes from a commissioned quilt.  The addition of the brighter colors was an attempt learn to love it....I don't.   I've accomplished making it more PURPLE.
However the shape of these whimsical Cone Flowers make me smile.  They might make an appearance in a future quilt, and they won't be PURPLE.   Sometimes working out of your comfort zone can be a learning experience.  I've learned even though I've been adding a little purple to a few of my latest scrappy quilts...I still don't like PURPLE.  I've also learned the reasons for not liking PURPLE are silly.  We won't get into the depths of my twisted brain on that one.  So in the spirit of working out of the comfort zone I'll finish it...and hide it in the closet!

  2. Your purple is my pink! I dislike it and there's no real reason for it. I wasn't beaten with a pink belt or anything. I jsut don't like it. However, I do like purple so I think this is adorable!

  6. I don't like purple either. Like your quilt though. Save it because, if you ever have little girls (3 to 7) in the family, without a doubt their favorite color is purple (and pink). :) XO

  8. I am not a fan of purple either, but your quilt top is adorable. I see it on a little girls bed. It is good to work out of our comfort zone... it either grows us or shows us that our tastes haven't changed. :) The cone flowers are wonderful!

  12. you sound as though you feel the same way about purple that I do with then pink and grey. The flowers look great and love the splash of orange you have used with them

  13. I love what I can see of the quilt. If you really can't bear it, why not donate it to a charity to raffle, or give it to a purple-lover? It's far too lovely to spend the rest of it's life in a cupboard.

  15. OH MY GOSH! I was just drooling over these pictures because I love purple so much. It made me sad to read how much you don't like it. I can totally understand of course since we all have that one color that just makes us want to turn and run I'm sure. If you ever get tired of seeing hiding in your closet peering out at you each time that closet door is opened you can know it would have a very happy home with me. :) I'd love to see the whole thing when you're done. I really do love what I see already.
