~ The New Year ~

Happy New Year Happy Quilters!  Wishing you a blessed year loaded with fun and exciting adventures!  I've lots of things in the works for this year but before I can get them started I need to finish up with 2018.  I guess a year just isn't long enough to get everything completed.

After a long day of working at the computer I decided I would bring in the new year sewing Clue 6 of the Good Fortune Mystery.  This would allow the blood to flow back to the lower part of my body while I cut the scrappy string blocks.  It also gave me a chance to try out the Chefs mats I purchased at The Christmas Tree Shop.  I love these mats! Well worth the $15.  And yes the tags are still on them.  Since I love them and plan to keep them I can remove the tags.

The mess above produced a few more string blocks.  14 more is needed to complete this clue.  As hard as I tried I couldn't stay awake until midnight.  Once again I rang in the new year snoring and drooling.

Just a few more creamy strings left in my scraps.  Hopefully this will be enough and I will not need to cut from the yardage.  Bonnie warned against it yesterday.  This leads me to believe we might have some larger neutral units coming soon.

Only time will tell what Bonnie has in store for us.  There's an old wives tale that says whatever you are doing on New Years Day is what you will be doing all year.  I hope this mess isn't going to last all year!

How did you ring in the new year?

  2. Woke up it it snowing and it's still coming down. Happy New Year Lea Anne! I am saving those clues for Good Fortune, but I will wait until I see what the quilt ends up looking like. I am not one for mystery quilts, mainly because I like to choose my own colors and make my own changes. Plus I don't like making large quilts because I don't have room to quilt them myself on my sewing machine, so large ones get quilted by a long arm quilter. I prefer to make and quilt my own wall quilts and table runners. So I will see whether or not I decided to make a smaller version of Good Fortune once I see what it looks like.

  3. I managed to make it to midnight, barely. Looks like you spent your last few minutes of consciousness in 2018 doing what you hope to be doing more of in 2019. Have a very happy New Year.

  4. I rang in the new year watching some TV and doing nothing exciting!! :-) And I love your fabric hanging rack, er, I mean your quilting machine!! hehe! It's totally what mine would look like if I had one! :-D And I don't see an actual sewing machine in your photo of your sewing room!! :-) I'm sure it is on the side of the room that you are standing in to take the picture, but it just cracked me up to see no pic of the sewing machine!! haha, I must be in a very good mood!! Have a great new year!! Hugs, H

  6. We were doing our "usual" New Year's Eve! Yep, just like you, we were sleeping! Unfortunately he didn't get home from work until almost 11, but we were ready to snooze in the New Year!! LOL I'm trying to make some sense of my mess of a studio, but my machine keeps calling to stop cleaning and start sewing! Happy New Year, Lea Anne! I hope you have a great one!
